M, Sleeping Beauty, Aurora/Maleficent 1k
Trapped in Maleficent's enchanted sleep, Briar Rose searches for a way out, accompanied by the constant presence of the voice of the thorns.
this feels like a cheaty rec since it was an exchange gift to me, but it's so good. it's so good. i already left a comment so i'll try not to be embarrassingly effusive here, but it's poetic and dreamy and so layered with symbolism and mal is really a monster in a way i find blistering.
Persephone Awakens by something_ignites
G, Sleeping Beauty, Aurora/Maleficent, 1k
Once upon a time, there lived two queens.
(Or, the myth of Hades and Persephone meets Sleeping Beauty.)
i think malora is especially apt for this fusion, especially with aurora being so textually associated with the springtime. the style is very appropriate for what is effectively folklore, several variations deep.
The Prince of the Grotto by Lang
E, MCU, Thor/Loki, 36k
When Loki, the least-loved prince of the royal house of Laufey, discovers that he has only a short time to live, he resolves to spend the rest of his life doing whatever he likes.
This includes winning the hand of Jotunheim's most eligible foreign tramp, the adventurer Thor.
i don't usually read... i want to call it raised-apart!thorki, but i think that's my wincest roots shining through. jotunn!loki!thorki? since it's their whole complicated family drama that draws me to them in the first place. but this was cute and funny, enough so to break me from my usual preferences. we are looking at a very pathetic loki, here. and i like the idea that each of their particular dramaticisms slot together perfectly even in a universe where they're meeting as adults.
